Continuing Your Leadership Journey

The JrNYLC Alumni program enables you to turn academic potential into real-world leadership action. As part of this fun and challenging program, developed specifically for students who have previously attended the Junior National Young Leaders Conference (JrNYLC), you'll empower yourself as a leader and create a clear road map to high school, college, and career success.

With notable sites in and around Boston as your living classroom, you'll strengthen your leadership abilities in the context of America’s early history. The JrNYLC Alumni program is your chance to explore our nation’s early conflicts and challenges to understand how tolerance, integrity, and perseverance can be used to overcome great odds and achieve success. Throughout the program, you'll practice the persuasive communication, goal-setting, and feedback skills used by great American leaders.

JrNYLC Alumni Conference Family Program

Families interested in experiencing Boston’s history and culture while their child is at the JrNYLC Alumni Conference have the opportunity to enroll in our Family Program. This program is available during the JrNYLC Alumni Conference and allows attendees to meet and make friends with other families from across the country while discovering the rich history of Boston. Interested family members can sign up for this program when completing the JrNYLC Alumni enrollment process or any time prior to the program, space permitting.

The cost of the Family Program is $1,295 for each attendee and includes site visits and transportation during provided guided events, lunch or dinner on select days. Housing and transportation to and from the airport is not included.

Space for the Family Program is limited and only available for the following dates:

July 1-5, 2024


Please be aware that this program is separate from your child’s program. You will be spending time with other families of scholars and not the students themselves. 

Junior National Young Leaders Alumni Conference FAQs

  • Is the Junior National Young Leaders Alumni Conference right for me?

    The Junior National Young Leaders Alumni Conference (JrNYLC Alumni) is for you if you've previously attended the Junior National Young Leaders Conference (JrNYLC), you're in grades 6-8 during the 2023-2024 school year, and you'd like to continue to develop your leadership strengths on an engaging journey in historic Boston, MA.

    If you're interested in building your leadership skills, but you haven't attended JrNYLC, we recommend you enroll in that program first.

  • What is included in tuition?

    Your tuition for the JrNYLC Alumni program includes housing accommodations, instruction, program activities and materials, site explorations, and supervision by professional program staff. Your meals during the program are also covered (excluding lunch on Arrival Day and Departure Day). Private motor coach transportation to all locations during the program is included in your tuition.

    However, your transportation to and from Boston, MA is NOT included in tuition. While attending the program, you'll need money for personal spending on items such as souvenirs, airport shuttle service (if not paid in advance), snacks, and other incidentals. 

  • How will I be supervised?

    Your safety and well-being during the program is our highest priority. The program is structured so that you will reside in a safe, controlled environment. You'll be closely supervised by the professionally trained Envision team, including advisors who serve as educational facilitators and chaperones, security personnel, a scholar experience team, and program leads.

    For over 35 years, Envision has achieved a stellar record of safely and successfully enriching the lives of students, providing them with superb educational experiences and professional supervision. Other Envision safety measures include:

    • Greeting students at the designated airport upon their arrival, providing shuttle service directly to the program site, and providing shuttle service back to the airport on Departure Day*
    • Maintaining a student-to-staff ratio of 20 to 1
    • Requiring all students to attend all activities
    • Checking rooms nightly and ensuring that students remain in their rooms
    • Having night monitors in place to support students who may become ill or who have an emergency during the night
    • Equipping all Envision team members with two-way communication devices


    *There is an additional fee for shuttle service.

  • Where will I stay?

    For the summer 2024 JrNYLC Alumni program, you will reside, along with other students and staff, at Emerson College which is located in Boston, MA.

  • How many students share a room?

    Students will have their own bed in double occupancy rooms within four and six-person suites that share a bathroom, common living space, and a kitchenette (sink only).

  • Can my parents attend the program?

    Gaining independence, including experiencing new things on your own, is an essential part of your growth during the program. Because of this, your parents or guardians are not allowed to accompany you during the program; however, they and your other family members are welcome to enroll in the JrNYLC Alumni Family Program. The JrNYLC Alumni Family Program allows attendees to enjoy their own unique curriculum.

  • I am a student requiring specific accommodations. Can I still attend?

    Yes, we encourage you to enroll. Envision by WorldStrides believes in working with families to accommodate student needs and encourages the participation of students who feel prepared to meet the academic, social, physical, and emotional demands of the program environment. We may be able to provide appropriate auxiliary staff and services to assist students as needed if notified in advance. We encourage families, guardians, legal representatives, or educators to contact the Office of Admissions for more information and to discuss particular accommodations before applying for enrollment in the program.

  • Do I need to make my own flight arrangements?

    Yes. Your tuition does not include transportation to and from Boston, MA. We recommend that you make necessary flight arrangements only AFTER you receive confirmation that you are officially enrolled.

  • What are the pre-program assignments? Do I have to do them?

    The first step of your leadership journey includes assessing your strengths and opportunities for growth. As part of your program, you'll have access to WorldStrides' newest digital platform: MyActionPath.

    WorldStrides has partnered with PAIRIN, a leader in career and life planning and assessment, to help our students along their lifetime learning journeys. The result of this partnership is MyActionPath—a personalized, virtual GPS that guides you along your desired career pathway and helps you identify ways to enhance your skills and achieve your goals. MyActionPath can assist you in deciding which professional field might suit you best, makes recommendations based on your goals and dreams, and provides you with educational and supportive resources. Before you arrive to your program location, you'll receive more information via email on how to begin this exciting career-planning journey.

  • Can special dietary needs be met?

    At the JrNYLC Alumni program, we make every effort to meet the dietary needs of all our students.  When you complete the Student Information Form, you will have the opportunity to make special dietary requests.
