About National Youth Leadership Forum: Law & CSI

Investigate Your Future

High School Summer Law and CSI Program Students

Are you ready to explore the exciting fields of law and CSI while you gain the skills and experience you need to plan your future?

NYLF Law & CSI may be the single most valuable opportunity you receive as a high school student. Through hands-on evidence analysis and courtroom or forensic simulations, you will gain the edge you need for college and a future career in law or crime scene investigation.

You will choose to participate in either a legal or CSI track during the program, which will allow you to explore the world of law and crime scene investigation in a way that goes far beyond the classroom. At NYLF Law & CSI, you will cover the entire judicial process in-depth; from the discovery of a crime, through collecting and analyzing all of the evidence, to preparing for the courtroom process, and taking part in the criminal trial.

As a student focusing on law, you will visit a local courthouse where you will observe proceedings and perform a mock trial. You'll also receive an introduction to the law school trajectory from law school professionals and discover the specialty career paths available in this exciting field.

As a student pursuing CSI, you will attend an interactive panel with university professors and forensic scientists, who will discuss the latest high-tech applications used during criminal investigations, and discover the career paths that may shape your future.

In addition, you'll visit George Mason University for a behind-the-scenes college experience, including an admissions workshop and a campus tour, which will give you new insight into the university admissions process and campus life.

GMU

Students attending select high school and college programs are eligible to receive college credit(s) through George Mason University.

Most of our students are either nominated by educators or selected through our academic partnerships. However, we also accept students through our application process. If you haven't been nominated or selected but are interested in taking advantage of the life-changing opportunities that the program provides, we encourage you to submit an application today.

  • What is included in tuition?

Your tuition includes all curriculum and instruction, program activities, site visits and events, overnight housing, program materials, at least two meals a day, a Certificate of Completion, and local transportation during the program.

Transportation to and from home and the program location is NOT included in tuition. While attending the program, you'll need money for meals not provided, snacks, souvenirs, and other incidentals.

  • How will I be supervised?

Your safety and well-being during the program is our highest priority. The program is structured so that you will reside in a safe, controlled environment. You will be closely supervised by professionally trained staff, including advisors who serve as educational facilitators and chaperones, security personnel, operations personnel, and a program lead.

For over 35 years, Envision has achieved a stellar record of safely and successfully enriching the lives of students, providing them with superb educational experiences and professional supervision. Other Envision safety measures include:

  • How many students share a room?

Each room will house two to three students. You will have your own bed. Each room has two stationary beds and one roll-away bed. Yes, we encourage you to enroll. Envision by WorldStrides believes in working with families to accommodate student needs and encourages the participation of students who feel prepared to meet the academic, social, physical, and emotional demands of the program environment. We may be able to provide appropriate auxiliary staff and services to assist students as needed if notified in advance. We encourage families, guardians, legal representatives, or educators to contact the Office of Admissions for more information and to discuss particular accommodations before applying for enrollment in the program.

  • Do I need to make my own flight arrangements?

Yes. Your tuition does not include transportation to and from Washington, D.C. We recommend that you make necessary flight arrangements only AFTER you receive confirmation that you are officially enrolled.
