Delana has accomplished much during her high school career: Senior Class President, Varsity Cheerleader and Head Editor of Academy of Media Productions. As an alumna of NYLF Digital Media, Film & Journalism, she gained real-world insight to achieve her dream job in digital media. Delana plans to pursue an undergraduate degree in marketing or advertising and ultimately earn her master’s degree. She hopes to one day land an internship at Disney, Universal Studios or the TODAY Show.

Q&A with Delana

  • What part of NYLF Digital Media, Film & Journalism did you enjoy most?

    Working with the New York Film Academy. I had so much fun and learned new skills to incorporate into my own videos. Furthermore, I had the best Faculty Advisor ever. She was so sweet and made my Envision Experience even better. She constantly supported us and gave us as much advice as she could. When she looked at you, it was like she just knew of all the wonderful things that you were capable of. We connected and I am so glad that I met her.

  • What sets NYLF Digital Media, Film & Journalism apart?

    NYLF Digital Media, Film & Journalism is different from other programs because New York City was basically my campus. We went on location and experienced different parts of the city and the abundance of great opportunities it has to offer. Attending an Envision program is different than learning in a traditional classroom because you’re not just talking about it – you’re actually there to experience it and be hands-on with it.

  • What was the most valuable thing you learned at NYLF Digital Media, Film & Journalism?

    The most important thing that I learned at NYLF Digital Media, Film & Journalism is not to stress about a college major. I learned that a degree in this field offers so many amazing opportunities and an abundance of different jobs. I also discovered that aside from film, graphic design and broadcast journalism, I really enjoyed journalism. This experience was so life-changing!

  • What would you tell other students who are interested in attending an Envision program?

    I definitely learned a lot from my experience and I made some of the best friends that I’ve ever had. You will make so many connections that will last a lifetime and will help you in the future. I was actually approached by a publicist and a fellow student from Hollywood who both were impressed by my music video at the Talent Show and offered to put me touch with their connections! We were all helping each other to achieve our dreams, and this process will continue for the rest of our lives. You will remember the people and the relationships that you will make at this program forever.
