I attended the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine in July 2013 in Los Angeles. I can say with complete sincerity that it was one of the best experiences of my life. Not only did I make lots of friends who I still stay in touch with, but I got the invaluable reassurance that the medical field is truly the area that I want to study and eventually work in.
From visiting the anatomy lab at Loma Linda Medical School, playing with robots and dummies and having a Hollywood makeup artist turn us into gunshot victims at UCLA's nursing school, and pretending to be in active labor during a triage simulation, I can truly say that I learned a lot while enjoying myself. Staying on the UCLA campus was also a great opportunity, and I fell in love with UCLA. I hope to attend there next fall- fingers crossed!
This summer (2015), I am going to China with the GYLC program before I take on the new adventure of college. Envision's programs have opened up so many doors for me, and I would not trade my experiences for anything.
