Esha P.

Alumna, NYLF Explore STEM 2014

“My overall experience at STEM inspired me to talk about what I believe in.”

My NYLF Explore STEM experience impacted my life because I learned how to be independent. I had the opportunity to gain confidence in myself. My experience at STEM helped me to develop a passion for speech and debate in my seventh grade school year. The experience has also helped me receive valuable information that I can use for my future endeavors. The biggest takeaway I got from this program was being able to learn more information about the profession I want to pursue, which is medicine. I gained information such as the responsibility it takes to become a good doctor and how to treat a patient efficiently.

My overall experience at STEM inspired me to talk about what I believe in.

Q&A with Esha

  • How has Explore STEM helped you in school?
Nelson Mandela once said, "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” This is so true. The group activities that I experienced taught me how working together for a common goal proves to be successful. This lesson helped me a great deal in school this year as I joined the Debate, Latin, and Math Counts, in which my objective to attain success relied on me working as a team player. Overall, Explore STEM helped me a more confident and independent student. I learned that if you want to be successful, you need to be a team player in doing so.
